Lake Chelan Summer Fun Is Filling a Need for Parents

Campers at the Lake Chelan Summer Fun Program have been busy having a blast. Children love it! Parents love it even more. From erupting their very own volcanoes, flying home-made kites to cooking up concoctions, Campers ages 3-12 have been engaged in making new friends, experimenting with cool things, learning a ton and having some good old fashion fun in the half and full day camp adventures put together by Chelan Valley Independent School. Six-year old Koa Marden who attended the Fabulous Physics Science Adventures Camp said, “"It was so much fun! Going to science camp was better than Legos! The coolest thing I learned was how friction affects things that move. Making my car to go fast was the best!" When children are actively involved in building, creating, crafting and laughing in an environment structured for fun and learning, children simply thrive. This is what the Lake Chelan Summer Fun Program was designed to do.

Parents say how relieved they are to have found a place that nurtures their children and allows them to relax and be active at the same time. This is what vacation is all about. Michael Stuart, an Uncle who paid for his niece to go to camp said, “After 37 years in the education field, I feel like I know a good thing when I see it. Thanks for taking such good care of my niece and the other young folk at summer camp.”

Camps run through August 15th. Next week, July 20-24, campers 3-6 year olds will attend the Camp for Royal Knights & Princesses. Campers will build, paint and decorate their very own enchanted castle. They will prepare all the details of their Grand Round Table Feast, the invitations, games, food and costumes. Magical words and manners will be highlighted as well as they learn how little words and actions make magic happen at home, at play and at school. The finale of the day is the Grand Round Table Feast, a dress-up event trimmed with crowns, shields and robes.

For campers 6-12 year olds next week, they will attend Hiking and Photography Camp. This will be an extraordinary hiking and photography experience. Campers will be journaling throughout the week, scrapbooking, and creating their own keepsake journals while enjoying the beauty of Chelan.

Monart Fine Art classes, taught by local resident and certified Monart teacher, Wendy Schramm returns for the last week this summer, the week of July 27th. Wendy’s first week of classes in June filled up quickly and many of her students are returning for another infusion of Monart drawing techniques. Classes are for 3- teens.

Look Who Joined the Kite Builder's Club

In our day camp for 6-12 year olds, campers created their own Kite Builder's Club building kites of all shapes and sizes. Beth Queen and Alex Dolge, Camp Leaders had them all flying high!

3-6 Year Olds "cooking concoctions" at Summer Fun

Fabulous Physics Science Camp Was a HIT!

Wow! What an incredible week of Science Adventures for our first ten science campers! Congratulations to Sarah Sanderson, our dynamic teacher who made the topic of physics come alive.

Although my 6-year old was the youngest in the class, he kept up with the big boys and soaked it all up. I have him enrolled in the other three science camps this summer and he doesn't want to miss it. Here's what my 6-year old say:

Monart Success!

We had a successful week of Monart at CVIS with 24 students attending. I wanted to share some of my son's artwork that he created in Wendy's Monart class for 6-8 year olds this past week. Simply amazing. Bravo Koa! Bravo Wendy!
